Our partner, Los Angeles Trade Technical College Dept of Architecture & Design, has made homeless solutions a student project for over 10 years.
Providing all the basic human rights and social justice for a small community to sustain, regenerate and become resilient, SPIN CAMPUS Open Architecture, the basis for Tiny Cities, brings services, creativity, innovation, and smart solutions for the internal community and to the surrounding neighborhood by opening facilities to all: urban farming, wellness centers, amphitheater and art gallery, maker-space (urban labs for creativity and future-thinking) and WorkCenter (support resources).
The Executive Director of Family Promise of the South Bay screens families who are temporarily homeless. He knows that "the homeless" are not homogeneous. Every community in Los Angeles County is comprised of different populations with different needs.
Tiny Cities LA understands that the homeless are individuals, with different needs. Volunteers in each community will help to integrate these neighbors back into society.
The Time Has Come...
It's time to start building, so our homeless folks can start living their lives and stop worrying about where to sleep.
Our Tiny Cities can be installed quickly.
They will be beautiful, and sustainable; a section of the plan is reserved for solar! Thank you Dept of Architecture & Design!
Every Tiny City will include healthy food; and depending on the served population...computers for education & jobs; mental health and basic medical facilities; playgrounds.
We are just getting started, so VOTE FOR US BEGINNING JUNE 19 SO WE CAN CREATE A PROTOTYPE TO SHOW RESIDENTS AND AGENCIES HOW COOL - REALISTIC & ECONOMICAL! - THESE CAN BE!
Tell us what area of Los Angeles you live in; and we will mobilize you to help create a County of pride in place of shame!
First, we need help and input from each community for locating vacant land we might build on, and identifying the population to be served.
Once we build, we'll need volunteers for the Tiny City residents and their resources. We will work with the homeless agencies that are already in place where you live.
